Participants can spend up to 9 months at the Mill Centre, during which they work towards employment or further training opportunities.
When participants join the Mill Centre program, they spends the first 3 months developing their woodworking skills, safety concepts, introduction to hand tool and machines, and begin to access relevant social supports to help them set and attain their personal goals.
Each participant is part of regular personal assessments and is evaluated monthly for technical skill development. After the initial 3 month period, they graduate into the Production-Training level which runs for their remainder time at the Mill Centre. This offers them hands-on experience and opportunity to make additional income.
The Centre has intake-referral processes every 3 months, accepting 10 new people into the program. There are four training sessions a year, each spring (April), summer (July), fall (October), and winter (January). Registration and intake for these sessions takes place in the month before training is scheduled to begin. Call us at 416-862-8555 to find out when the next intakes and orientation sessions are.
